This 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Sunliner is a gorgeous, frame off restored 50s convertible that is ready for some serious summer cruising. In 1959, the Ford Motor Company completely redesigned the majority of its product offerings. The new-look '59 Fords were understated, compared to the other Big Three American manufacturers, yet the Fords were classy and elegant. In fact, the 1959 Fords won the Gold Medal for Exceptional Styling at the Brussels World Fair and were deemed one of the most beautiful Fords ever built. At the nose, the '59 Fords featured flatter-looking hoods, new grilles and flatter front fenders housing a pair of dual headlights on each side. Styling down the sides were also revised with more refined trim than the previous years along with increased body lines. At the rear, the new-look '59 Fords' rear fenders were changed and incorporated molded back-up lights and a new taillight design. Additionally in the late 50s, the world was infatuated with the Space Race and the American automakers including Ford, adopted space-inspired terminology and design influences with 1959 being the first year that Ford adopted the "Galaxie" moniker for its top-of-the-line trim level and the only Ford trim in 1959 that could be purchased as a convertible. In total, Galaxie Sunliners made up less than 10% of overall Galaxie production in 1959 and around 3% of Ford's overall production, which makes this particular Sunliner a pretty rare car. The dash, door panels, carpeting, and steering wheel all appear to be in their stock configuration and are in great shape. The dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge and fuel gauge, along with an AM radio and clock. A trifecta of Equus gauges are mounted neatly under the dash as well and consist of a temperature gauge, volt gauge, and oil pressure gauge.
