2.5L Inline 6 - Twin 1BBLs - 4 Speed Man. - P.F.D.B. - Correct Exterior/Interior

This 1971 Triumph TR6 Convertible is a gorgeous, well-optioned British sports car correctly refinished both inside and out! Widely regarded as one of the finest British roadsters ever built, the Triumph TR6 represents the pinnacle of Triumph's long heritage in performance engineering. Founded in the late 19th century as a bicycle manufacturer, Triumph quickly expanded into motorcycles and, by the early 1920s, began producing automobiles. Despite financial challenges during the Great Depression and several ownership changes—including acquisitions by Standard Motor Company in 1944 and Leyland Motors in 1960—the Triumph brand continued to evolve into a leader in affordable sports cars. In the early 1950s, Standard Motor Co. positioned the Triumph nameplate as its dedicated sports car line, debuting the TR series at the 1953 Geneva Motor Show with the lively TR2. Successive models—the TR3 and TR4—built Triumph's reputation for spirited performance and race-inspired engineering. Then, in January 1969, Triumph unveiled the TR6, featuring a fresh, modernized body design and the powerful inline 6-cylinder engine that would make it a legend. The TR6 became an instant hit, especially in the United States, where over 90% of all TR6s were sold—more than any other TR model in Triumph's history. Celebrated by enthusiasts as the “last great British roadster,” the Triumph TR6 blended timeless styling, a strong and great-sounding six-cylinder engine, and engaging open-air driving dynamics. Today, it remains a highly desirable classic sports car—one that looks fantastic in any collection and is an absolute joy to drive on a warm summer day. Under the bonnet on this '71 TR6 is a 2.5 Liter (2,498 CC) inline 6 cylinder engine fed by Twin Single-Barrel Stromberg carburetors that together were said to have produced 104 horsepower when new. The 2.5L inline 6 is mated to a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this British import a very sporty car to drive. Emanating from the twin tailpipes is exhaust from the 104 HP Triumph power plant, touted by Triumph in its 1971 marketing materials as having a "restrained, throaty burble" sound. Being that the TR6 was a racing-inspired model, these cars come loaded with fantastic driver-friendly features! With power front disc brakes and a dual master cylinder, bringing this sporty British sports car to a complete stop feels almost effortless and the braking system is much more reliable. Further making this 1971 Triumph a fantastic driving car is the rack and pinion steering setup that greatly helps you squeeze into a tight parking space at the local car show or around a tight curve on an afternoon cruise. Front and rear independent suspension is another fantastic feature on this '71 Triumph Convertible since is makes for a much smoother handling and riding automobile. The tan canvas convertible top is manually operated and looks to be in great shape as well. Riding on a set of "Red Band" (Redline) tires mounted on 15 inch ventilated steel wheels, this TR6 has a great look whether parked at the local car show or ice cream shop, or cruising down the road. The exterior has been correctly refinished in the car's original color, Laurel Green, that finishes off this sports car's British Racing look. The interior of this 1971 Triumph TR6 Convertible is absolutely stunning! The driver and passenger bucket seats have been recently reupholstered in brand new "New Tan" leather, just how this car came back in 1971. The matching New Tan door panels, brand new Deep Chocolate carpeting, 3-spoke steering wheel, and brand new woodgrain-trimmed dash are all in fantastic shape as well and retain a wonderful stock appearance. This '71 TR-6 comes equipped with a complete set of stock instrumentation by Smiths and Lucas including a 140 MPH Speedometer, 5,500 RPM redline Tachometer, amp gauge oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge. The dash is finished off with various controls for lighting, heater/defroster, windshield washers/wipers, and more, an ashtray, and a glovebox. Whether you're adding to your existing collection of imported vintage British sports cars or you're buying your very first classic car, this 1971 Triumph TR6 Convertible would make an excellent choice.
