This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is an eye-catching, fantastic summer cruiser with tasteful updates! In the late 1960s, Detroit's Big Three Automakers, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, were constantly competing for market supremacy. As the mid-60s started transitioning into the later part of the decade, it became clear to GM leadership that it was missing one market segment from its lineup–a Pony Car. Unlike Ford with its Mustang and Chrysler with its Plymouth Barracuda, Chevrolet (and its GM brand siblings) did not have a true Pony as the Chevy II/Nova and Corvair were just simply not adequate competitors to the youth-oriented Mustang and Barracuda. However, that all changed in late 1966 when Chevrolet introduced the Camaro into its dealer showrooms. Essentially replicating the traditional youth-oriented pony car formula, the new Camaro consisted of a small, sporty-looking body paired with a high performance drivetrain, all for a modest price. Like its Detroit contemporaries, Chevrolet struck gold with the new Camaro with the GM marque selling over two-hundred thousand units in that first year. Due to the success of the '67 Camaro, little changed on the 1968 version. Of course, eagle-eyed enthusiasts can easily spot the differences between a 1967 and 1968 Camaro. Perhaps the most visible change in 1968 was the addition of larger door windows, and "Astro Ventilation" replacing the 1967 Camaro's vent windows. A change in government regulations saw the addition of rectangular marker lights in '68 as well. The 1968 Camaro interiors were also refreshed with restyled center consoles, new upholstery options, and new secondary gauge designs. Powering this '68 Camaro Convertible is a 327 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with a Holley Single 4 Barrel Carburetor. The NOM 327 V8 is mated to an automatic transmission that makes this little pony car easy for anybody to drive for a spin around the block. Exhaust exits the 327 small block via a dual exhaust setup that creates a nice throaty sound out the rear tailpipes. This 1968 Camaro is also equipped with several wonderful options! With power steering, this Camaro is much more enjoyable to drive since it makes squeezing into a tight parking space almost effortless. Power front disc brakes are also a welcome upgrade since they make bringing this Camaro to a complete stop much easier. The black vinyl power convertible top is in wonderful condition as well and it goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch. Riding on a set of radial tires mounted on Rally wheels with Chevy hubcaps, this '68 Camaro has a great look and even better ride cruising down the road. The exterior chrome and brightwork are another highlight and show particularly well. This Camaro's body has been refinished in a two-tone paint scheme consisting of Bumblebee Yellow paired with black SS-style stripes, giving the car its wonderful muscle car look and completing the exterior appearance of the car. The interior of this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is absolutely stunning! The front bucket seats and rear bench have been reupholstered in black vinyl that contrasts nicely with the exterior. The matching door panels, black carpeting, padded dash, and steering wheel all appear to be stock and are in great shape. The steering wheel is also mounted on a tilt column which makes driving this beauty much more comfortable. The center console looks great and houses the Horseshoe-style shifter and SS-style gauges including a battery gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, and fuel gauge. The instrument cluster is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer and fuel gauge. The dash is completed with an upgraded AM/FM/CD entertainment system, temperature controls, and a locking glovebox. Whether you're buying your first classic car or you're adding to an existing collection, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible would make an excellent choice.
