With Super Bowl 52 coming to Minneapolis this year, it’s no wonder our whole state is buzzing with activity. There are so many traditions around that weekend that people look forward to seeing, like the pregame festivities, family events and concerts. The TV commercials are entertaining, the halftime show is always a huge production, and even the national anthem is a big deal. Did you know you can place bets on how long the national anthem will go, right down to the second?

One Super Bowl tradition came to an end a couple years ago when the NFL stopped giving the game’s MVP a brand new car. But over the years MVPs drove off in some of the nicest cars and trucks available at that time. Here are a few of those lucky guys and their rides.

Bart Starr – 1967 & 68

Bart Starr won the MVP award two years in a row for the first two Super Bowls, in 1967 and 1968. Here he is posing with one of the Corvettes he won. We have a variety of Corvettes in stock, stop by our showroom to see them in person or browse online anytime.

Larry Csonka -  1974

In the early 1970’s Dodge Chargers were given away to the MVP. Here is Larry Csonka of the Miami Dolphins celebrating with his new ride in 1974. If Mopar muscle is your thing, we have plenty of classics in our showroom to choose from.

Terry Bradshaw – 1979

In 1979 Pontiac gave MVP Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers a 10th anniversary limited edition Trans Am. We have sold a number of Trans Ams over the years. Check our inventory to see if we have any of these iconic muscle cars for sale now.

Jerry Rice – 1989

In the 1980’s Subaru gave their sporty XT coupe as the MVP prize. 1989 MVP Jerry Rice had an exotic car collection already and wasn’t impressed by the Subaru. He said he was going to give it to his mother.

Tom Brady – 2002

The first time Tom Brady won the MVP in 2002 he was given a Cadillac Escalade pickup. We don't have any Escalades in our inventory now but we have plenty of classic caddys that would definitely turns some heads.

Aaron Rodgers – 2011

The Green Bay Packers QB was given a brand new Chevy Camaro convertible for his 2011 MVP win. Perfect for a discount double-check. We have a few classic Camaros in our inventory now, stop by and see them in person!

Ellingson’s #1 is the closest classic car dealer to downtown Minneapolis and US Bank Stadium, conveniently located right off I-94 in Rogers, MN. If you're in town for the big game, stop by and see those classic cars and many, many more in our huge indoor showroom.
